Set up with confidence.
These guides cover the safest path from download to a tested storefront. Menu names can vary slightly between plugin versions.
Install and activate
Get the gateway running on your WooCommerce store.
Upload the ZIP
In WordPress, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, select the downloaded ZIP and click Install Now.
Activate and license
Activate the plugin, open its license screen, paste the key from your WP Honcho account and save.
Open the settings
Go to WooCommerce → Settings → Payments and open Venmo Payment Gateway.
Connect your Venmo account
Tell the plugin where customers should send money.
Enable the gateway
Under Basic Settings, turn on Enable Venmo Payment Gateway and set the Checkout Title customers will see.
Add your username
Enter your Venmo username without the @ (for example john-smith, not @john-smith). The Venmo Name field is optional and is shown as the name customers are paying.
Choose order processing
Under Order Processing, pick Manual (orders wait On Hold until you confirm payment) or Automatic (orders go straight to Processing).
Control where instructions appear
Make sure customers can find the payment details again.
Order details and emails
Under Display Options, turn on Show via WooCommerce Order Details Block to add instructions to confirmation emails and account order pages.
Pick order statuses
Choose which order statuses show the instructions on the customer’s order details page. On Hold is selected by default.
Optional shortcode
Turn on Show via Shortcode and place [venmo_payment_instructions] on any page where customers might look for payment details.
Confirm payments automatically (optional)
Let Venmo payment emails update their orders.
Enable webhooks
Turn on Enable Webhooks and generate a Webhook Secret Key. Generating a new key disables any old integrations.
Connect an email parser
Follow the in-plugin guide to forward Venmo payment emails through Zapier’s Email Parser or Zoho Mail to your store’s webhook URL.
Pick the paid status
Choose the Auto-Update Order Status (Processing, Completed or On Hold) and how long to keep payment receipts.
